COOPAFSI, nestled in Peru's Cajamarca region, was founded in June 1969 with a strong commitment to gender equality. This cooperative stands out for its dedication to empowering "women grown" coffee, highlighting the significant role women play in enhancing both the physical and sensory qualities of their coffee. These industrious women are at the forefront of initiating and managing projects aimed at bettering their families' lives and elevating their community's well-being. They are instrumental in driving quality improvement and ensuring the consistency of their coffee in various markets. In 2016, COOPAFSI established a women's committee responsible for managing loans to help producers enhance their land and invest in community advancements like kitchen upgrades, crafts, and livestock. Additionally, the cooperative has embraced modernity by setting up a computer lab, ensuring its members are well-versed in contemporary technology, further empowering them in their coffee production and daily lives.
